What an awesome planet.

Okay I know this has nothing to do with "JAPAN" or whatever but have you ever thought about MOUNTAIN LIONS? Just do that for a second.

Cougars have got to be the most under-appreciated animal in America. There are tons of them in the western states like in Oregon but I don't think people really get that they exist. It's a fucking lion, dude. Look at it. We have lions. Wild lions in the forests. Not in Africa, or in the zoo. We've got serious huge native lions. How fucking intense is that? And we don't even think about it. So just think about it. I love you, planet.

I had the same epiphany recently! I live near some foothills in Cali and sometimes they come down into my little cowboy town and it's just crazy. I'm like you guys! There's big fucking cats prowling around out there!

But no one seems to get it ):|

i'm like heading for a mental breakdown over animals right now, i think the oil spill will ultimately result in an increase of lunatics. planet tragic, breaking brains.

I remember when I was a kid and all the kids in the school who walked back and forth from school got called to the gym for an assembly because there was a mountain lion seen roaming the hill near the playground. We were assigned buddies and coached on what to do when you see a mountain lion (DONT LOOK IN HIS EYES!) on the way home from school.

When I told that story to someone once, it was the most Canadian I have ever felt in my life.

What about bears and elk? They're also big huge wild animals just running around in our Oregon back yards. People here are always awed when I tell them that I've seen wild bears. The best.

That's a bad-ass lion. As a solo photographer in central California, I'm VERY aware, and respectul of their presence.... I've seen several bobcats, and only one lion(ess... I think). They are a sight to behold, as long as they aren't beholding me! In BC, I went white water rafting... The ongoing joke was "if you see a Mountain Lion, that's the last thing you'll see...," indicating that they are superior hunters that are only seen when they want to be seen. I am very partial to felines. Their sinewy and graceful gate looks perfect and effortless (and they do have that shiny sheen!). The only creature that I consider on the level of hunter with the feline are the birds of prey. I think these are the two amazing carnivorous species on the planet...

For what that's worth!

Cheers!

I live in Japan also but Im from the USA. We got very few cougars on the east coast. I always admired them, some guys always talked about seeing black panthers but its nothing more than a black jaguar, it probally a lie. Lots of bobcats though. Where you at in Japan?
